Creator Path: From 0 to $1,000/month
The boring sequence behind almost every solo income story.
You're a freelancer, creator, or builder trying to get to your first $1k/month outside a job.
A clear offer, a real audience, and a repeatable acquisition channel.
Most creators stay stuck at $0 because they jump to monetization before they have an audience, or to audience before they have an offer. There's an order.
- 01
Pick one audience, one outcome
Specific beats clever. 'Help solo SaaS founders ship faster' beats 'tips for entrepreneurs'. Pick a group you've been in, and the result you got them.
PitfallChoosing a topic you love but no one will pay for. Hobby ≠ business. - 02
Build in public for 90 days, before selling
Post 3× a week on one platform (X, LinkedIn, YouTube, TikTok — pick one). Show your work, your wins, your failures. The goal is 500–1,000 followers who are exactly your buyer.
- 03
Make one minimum viable offer
Pick one of: a $50–$200 mini-course, a $300–$2,000 coaching package, a $20/mo paid newsletter, or a $5–$50 digital product. Don't build all four.
- ▸Write the sales page before you build the product
- ▸Pre-sell to 5–10 people at half price for testimonials
- ▸Ship a v1 within 30 days
- 04
Set up the payment + delivery stack
Stripe or Lemon Squeezy for payments. Beehiiv / Substack / ConvertKit for email. Notion / Google Docs / Loom for delivery. Don't over-engineer.
- 05
Find your first repeatable channel
By month 6, you should know which channel converts: short-form video, longform threads, SEO, newsletter cross-promotion, or referrals. Double down on that one.
- 06
Track three numbers weekly
Audience growth, email subscribers, paying customers. Everything else is vanity.
